Degree of Freedom Wheels - An Exclusive Partnership with DT Swiss

Supercharge Your Suspension

Reserve Wheels is proud to partner with DT Swiss to be the exclusive source for aftermarket Degree of Freedom wheelsets. Degree of Freedom offers a tangible increase in performance, with no weight penalty, by reducing pedal kickback and improving suspension performance.

The design lets your suspension work more smoothly, your bike ride more quietly and makes it easier to stay composed and in control on rough trails.

What sets Degree of Freedom apart from other suspension kickback devices is its simplicity. It’s a low-maintenance innovation from DT Swiss that allows the ratchets in your hub to float and rotate freely. There are very few moving parts, and the system does not add weight to the hub.

Customize Your Setup

The design is simple, effective, and easy to use. Degree of Freedom can be easily adjusted between 0°, 10°, or 20° settings, depending on your riding style and the terrain you ride.

In the 0° setting, the hub functions as a standard high-engagement hub with 90 teeth and 4° of engagement. Perfect for XC riders or anyone who prioritizes quick engagement and immediate power delivery over descending smoothness. This setting may appeal to riders on 30|SL wheels.

The 10° setting offers a nice balance between ratchet engagement and free float. Ideal for trail and enduro riders where improved descending performance is important, but pedalling is still part of the game. The 10° setting could be the sweet spot for riders on Frysauce and 30|HD wheels.

The 20° setting is for ultimate downhill suspension performance. This is the setting for gravity-fed riding where ratchet engagement isn't a priority, and your suspension needs to work at its best. Riders on 30|DH wheels will likely want to give the 20° setting a shot.

Tool-Free Flexibility

The adjustment process is quick, simple and requires no special tools. With the rear wheel removed from the bike, you only need to pull the cassette and driver body off the hubshell by hand to expose the ratchets and then rotate them into the desired setting.

Degree of Freedom equipped hubs also improve freespin with a low-drag design, remove drivetrain chatter and chain feedback. These hubs supercharge your bike’s suspension performance without adding a single gram of extra weight.
