A promising footballer in his youth, Cristian Cominelli started racing for a local mountain bike team at the age of 10 and won his first national CX and XCO titles in the young categories in 2004. He was noticed by the "legend" Felice Gimondi, who brought him into the Gewiss Bianchi team in 2005, where he matured professionally and athletically. His career includes a bronze medal at the U23 World Cyclocross Championships in Treviso in 2008 and a gold medal in the XCO Team Relay in Camberra in 2009. Nowadays he has moved on to long distance races and gravel, but he remains true to his first love: cyclocross.
